Top 10 Best Thermal Paste in India for CPU Repairing

Thermal Paste Review – One of the great evolutionary leaps of humanity occurred when we managed to master fire. It allowed us to cook food, protect ourselves from wild beasts, keep warm, and light up at night. Our concern, now, as inhabitants of the technological age, is to control the heat. Especially on our computer equipment.

Certain components of our computers, such as the CPU, give off heat simply by being in operation. It is common. The problem arises when that heat increases excessively, as it could damage the equipment. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to the cooling system, especially to one of its main elements: the thermal paste.

#9. Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut Thermal Grease Paste

Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut Thermal Grease Paste-My Listing

Thermal Grizzly is one of the most well-known brands of thermal pastes today, and their products are consistently of high quality. However, you must pay a premium for their services.

The resealable packet includes some basic instructions, a syringe with screw cap, and a spreader nozzle for applying the thermal paste evenly. Always start by cleaning both surfaces with isopropyl alcohol. Because of the high viscosity of the thermal paste, it is very thick and difficult to apply a thin layer. It can also be quite messy, and cleaning it off of fabrics (and carpets!) is a nightmare.

The best on the market is Thermal Grizzly. I purchased 11 grammes to easily re-paste my two laptops and a PC. The applicator head that comes with the package is excellent and consistently applies the product. Because Kryonaut is electrically non-conductive, it is safer to use than liquid metal. If you’re feeling brave, go with the thermal grizzly conductonaut or the coollaboratory extreme.

The most important

  • Conductivity is a very important aspect that we must keep in mind when choosing a thermal paste. Thermal pastes made with a metal base are highly conductive of heat, which is why they are highly appreciated. However, they are also conductive of electricity, so it is not as safe an option as others.
  • Before deciding on an option, you need to weigh how much thermal paste you need. Some models offer the possibility to choose between syringes with different quantities. Keep in mind that normally, it doesn’t take a large amount of paste to do its job. If you have a lot left over, it could have deteriorated when, later on, you want to use it again.
  • One of the basic purchase criteria is the material from which the thermal paste is made. This characteristic will influence aspects such as price, conductivity or safety. There are different types of thermal pastes depending on the material they are made of, for example, those based on metals, ceramic or silicone.

The best thermal pastes on the market: our recommendations

Thermal paste is a great ally in the fight against high temperatures in our computers. Its function is to transmit the heat produced, for example, by the processor or the graphics card to the heatsink. If you are thinking of renewing this element, you have come to the right place. Here we show you a selection with the best thermal pastes of 2020.

Shopping Guide: What You Should Know About Thermal Paste

To maintain a well-cared for equipment and prevent its components from deteriorating, it is essential to keep your cooling system in good condition. Thermal paste is a fundamental gear for the correct operation of this system. But why? What exactly is its function? We will address these and other issues below.

What is thermal paste?

By the simple fact of being in operation, a computer generates heat. Some activities, such as graphic design, video editing or playing video games, demand high performance from our teams. Thus, with extra effort, some components, such as the CPU, can become excessively hot.

That is why it is important to have a good cooling system. Otherwise, the operation of the computer may be affected. These overheated components could even burn out. Thermal paste is one of the elements that helps to combat the high temperatures of our computers.

But what is it exactly? It is a kind of putty that is placed on the metal plate located on top of the graphics card or processor. Its function is to prevent air pockets from being generated between this board and the heat sink. These air pockets could be harmful to your computer as they prevent the fan from properly expelling generated heat.

What types of thermal paste are there?

Although it seems a fairly simple element, the truth is that there are several types of thermal pastes. The main characteristic that differentiates them is the material of which they are composed. Those made with a metal base are, today, the most demanded by users. Next, we explain what types of pasta, in addition to those based on metal, exist.

  • Metal-based: they are composed of particles of certain metals, such as aluminum, silver or copper. Their great advantage is that they provide high thermal conductivity, which is why they are the favorites. However, it is also a conductor of electricity, which could pose a problem for the safety of the equipment.
  • Ceramic-based: its fundamental component is ceramic powder. It is a very economical type of thermal paste. However, their effectiveness is less durable than those based on metals, hence their lower price. On the other hand, its advantage is that the ceramic-based paste is not electrically conductive.
  • Silicone-based: they are mainly made of silicone. This material is a good conductor of heat. On the other hand, it is not a very durable type of thermal paste. The ideal would be to replace it on a regular basis to prevent it from losing its effectiveness.
  • Based on silicon: its main component is silicon. Although it helps to conduct heat, it is not as effective as the previous types.
  • Based on liquid metal: its main components are metal oxide and tin. It is quite efficient. However, its use is only recommended for expert users. Its application is not easy and you could damage your computer if you did it incorrectly.
Yes, I want…I must buy…
A paste with high thermal conductivity.A thermal paste based on metals.
A paste that does not conduct electricity.A thermal paste based, for example, on silicone.
A cheaper thermal paste.A ceramic based thermal paste.

Why is thermal paste important?

Thermal paste is an essential component of the cooling system in our computers. The function of this system is to prevent the temperature of the equipment from rising to the point that it could be damaged. The problem is that if all the heat does not reach the fan, the different components, such as the CPU or the graphics card, can overheat.

Sometimes air pockets develop between the fan and the surface on which it is located. These bags are dangerous because they do not conduct heat. The thermal paste, well placed, prevents air pockets from occurring. In short, thermal paste is important because it helps to better transmit the heat from the computer to the heatsink and to avoid possible damage.

How often is it recommended to change the thermal paste?

Over time, the thermal paste deteriorates. Its liquid component evaporates with use and the mass may solidify. If this happens, the thermal paste would stop performing its function, preventing the heat from correctly reaching the heatsink, with the possible negative consequences that this could entail.

How often? It depends, first of all, on the type of pasta we use and its quality. It also depends on the use we make of our computer and the ambient temperature. One way to know if the pasta has deteriorated is to check the temperature of our equipment.

If it is too high, it is probably time to change the thermal paste. Some experts recommend changing it every year. Others, on the other hand, advise doing it every three or five years. Some manufacturers claim that their products last up to eight years. The truth is that it is an element that is not expensive. It is best to change it before any critical component is damaged.

Purchase criteria

Although it is a relatively inexpensive item, it does not mean that you have to be seduced by the first option we find. It is important to choose thermal paste carefully and with a few fundamentals in mind. Here we leave you the most important criteria when choosing the best thermal paste of 2020.

  • Materials
  • Duration
  • Conductivity
  • Grammage
  • Palette

materials

As we explained in the previous section, there are different types of thermal paste depending on the materials with which they are made. This material will have a significant influence on other characteristics of the pasta, such as its price. But not only that. The material will also determine the duration of the paste’s effectiveness and its conductivity.

For example, metal-based thermal pastes have a higher degree of heat conductivity. This is a very positive feature. However, they also conduct electricity, which is not so good in terms of safety. On the other hand, those based on ceramics do not conduct electricity, but are less durable. You must weigh which one interests you the most.

Duration

With this criterion we refer to the useful life of the thermal paste. This will influence how often you need to replace it. Typically, a thermal paste works in perfect condition for three to five years. Still, some experts recommend changing it once a year. That decision is up to your personal judgment.

Conductivity

As we already explained, the function of thermal paste is to transfer the heat generated in the processor or graphics card to the heatsink. Therefore, the higher your conductive capacity, the better. Copper-based thermal pastes are some of the most heat conductive on the market. Aluminum ones are also highly conductive, although not that much.

Liquid thermal pastes also have a high capacity to transfer heat to the heatsink. However, they are more difficult to apply. This type of paste is recommended for those users with more experience. The danger of this paste is that, if it is applied incorrectly, some component of our computer could be damaged.

Grammage

This aspect is related to the surface on which you want to apply the thermal paste. There are brands that sell between one and forty-five grams. You need to weigh how much pasta you are going to use. If you have too much left over, it could lose its effectiveness over time and not be useful when you want to use it again. Usually a small amount is more than enough.

Palette

Some models include a paddle in the package to evenly distribute the thermal paste on the surface. It is true that some people choose to apply it with the syringe and, directly, place the heatsink on top so that, with its pressure, the paste is distributed alone. However, other people prefer to hand it out manually.

If this is your case, a thermal paste that includes a paddle is the best option for you. After applying the paste, spread it out with the trowel to create a thin, even layer. Then you can place the heatsink on top. Of course, do not forget, first of all, clean the surfaces well with alcohol and cotton.

Summary

Computers are a common element in many people’s daily lives. Whether for work or leisure, most of us use one practically every day. For a computer to work, it is essential that it has a power source, that is, energy. However, some activities can demand high performance from our teams.

This causes the amount of energy used to be greater and, consequently, the heat generated will also be greater. It is crucial, to avoid that some components are damaged by high temperatures, to have a good thermal paste. This element will help to transmit heat more effectively to the heatsink, keeping our equipment safe.

We hope this guide has served to clarify your doubts about which is the most suitable thermal paste for you. If so, do not hesitate to share these tips on your networks. Your friends are sure to find them useful!

3. When should I replace my thermal paste?

How Often Should Thermal Paste Be Replaced? In most cases, you shouldn’t have to reapply more than once every few years, but if you remove your cooler for any reason, you should replace your paste. If your CPU temperatures are rising, you may want to consider reapplying thermal paste.

4. Is it better to use thermal paste or a pad?

Thermal paste has a lot of advantages, one of which is its ease of application. It conforms well to irregular surfaces and fills large gaps more evenly than thermal pads. Thermal paste also has the advantage of being able to be applied as a thin layer, which allows it to provide better thermal conductivity than thicker pads.

5. Is it worth it to use liquid metal thermal paste?

Thermal paste does not conduct heat as well as liquid metal. As a result, liquid metal is a better choice for builds that are likely to overheat and require the best results. Liquid metal is always electrically conductive, which can cause issues later on.

6. Can thermal paste ruin a CPU?

Thermal paste is not applied directly to the CPU socket on the motherboard. This point may seem self-evident to a seasoned system builder, but it’s a common blunder made by newcomers… Unfortunately, this can sabotage an expensive CPU (and motherboard)…. It’s probably fine if your cooler came with a tube of thermal paste.

7. What happens if u put too much thermal paste?

Don’t use too the thermal paste.
Thermal paste can act as an insulator if you use too much of it. In the best-case scenario, this will render the paste ineffective, and in the worst-case scenario, you may damage components due to overheating.

8. Is it necessary to apply thermal paste to the entire CPU?

In attempting to ensure that enough paste is applied to cover the entire area of the CPU, you are more than likely to apply too much paste. Keep in mind that the purpose of thermal paste is to fill in tiny gaps on the surface of your CPU and heatsink.

9. What happens if you don’t reapply thermal paste?

Because the paste was still fresh, it should spread out evenly again, but there will still be some air trapped. Reapply if you aren’t getting the results you want.

10. How Is Thermal Paste Applied?

Answer:- In principle, applying the thermal paste is not a particularly complicated activity. Anyway, it doesn’t hurt to consult an expert or view a tutorial before launching yourself to open your computer. Our recommendation is that you take extreme precautions. There is no single way to apply thermal paste. Here we explain one of the ways to do it.
The first step is to open the side cover of your device. To do this, you will need a screwdriver. Remember to keep the screws safe in a place where they will not get lost.
Next, carefully remove the heatsink and processor.
Clean the surfaces of both components with cotton and alcohol to remove the remains of the thermal paste. Wait for it to dry
Now is the time to apply the new thermal paste on the heatsink. You have to apply the right amount, which is not usually much, to prevent the paste from coming into contact with other elements. There are different ways to do it: in Xs, drawing a line or with a single point. You can spread it out with a trowel or let it spread on its own by bringing the two together.
Reassemble all parts.
Check that everything works correctly.
