JioFi 4G Hotspot 150 Mbps Jio 4G Portable WiFi Data Device
JioFi JMR815 comes in a very cool cardboard box that opens with a slide out mechanism. When you first open the box, the unit will be front and centre, with accessories concealed behind it. Information about the contents of the package can be found in the list below:
- Rechargeable Li-ion 3000 mAh Battery capacity
- Compatible with JMR-815 & JMR-1040 only
- For best performance charge the battery with an original router charger only

Design and Build Quality
JioFi JMR815 has a small donut-like form factor that makes it extremely compact. In reality, the JioFi JMR815 looks eerily similar to the Google Home Mini, which I was reminded of the first time I saw it. The choice of content, on the other hand, is very different. Plastic separates the top and bottom halves, which are divided by a rim that looks like glass. All of the physical buttons, as well as the LED icons, are housed in the glass ring.
It’s also simple to get inside the JioFi JMR815 to load the SIM card. It has a tiny notch on the back that you can use to take it off. There’s a removable battery, as well as a SIM and microSD card slot on the inside. Overall, I like the style and can’t think of anything I dislike about it. The quality of the plastic used could have been higher, but other than that, I like the design.
JioFi is extremely simple to set up, and it only took me a minute or so. That is assuming you have a Jio SIM that is already active. If you have that, all you have to do is cut the back, remove the plug, insert the SIM card, and replace all else. Keep in mind that when installing the back cover, you’ll need to match the notch with the charging port to ensure a seamless fit. Also, take note of the SSID and password, which can be found on a sticker next to the SIM card slot.
JioFi JMR815 Features
JioFi offers a range of features that we appreciate for such a small device. Here are some of JioFi’s best features that I’ve come to appreciate:
4G Voice and Video Calls
If you want to use Jio’s 4G voice and video calling features on a smartphone that doesn’t support 4G, one of the most compelling reasons to get JioFi is to do so. Simply download and instal the Jio4GVoice software on your smartphone to make 4G voice or video calls. The best part is that you won’t need a Jio SIM card on your phone because the calls will be made using the link from the JioFi WiFi router’s SIM. JioFi is the best WiFi router for anyone who loves Jio’s 4G voice and video calling capabilities.
Portability
One of JioFi’s best features, in my opinion, is its portability. I can throw it in my backpack or hold it in my pockets and take it with me everywhere I go. JioFi has allowed me to stay connected to the internet without having to rely on my smartphone as a hotspot source all of the time. The problem with using your smartphone as a hotspot is that it not only drains your battery, but it also causes you to lose communication every time you receive a call. JioFi has allowed me to stay connected without experiencing any of these issues.
Connect Multiple Devices
What I really like about JioFi is that you can link up to 32 devices at the same time, which is much more than you’ll ever need. I usually connect three devices : a MacBook Pro, a One Plus 3, and a 9.7-inch iPad, and none of them had trouble maintaining a secure internet link.
CAT-4 High Speed Broadband Access
The ALT3800 chipset in the JioFi JMR 815 is a CAT-4 high-speed broadband connectivity chipset that supports the latest LTE and LTE-A specifications. While there are numerous benefits to using a Cat 4 chipset, the fast download and upload speeds are the most important to us. JioFi JMR815 supports 150 Mbps download and 50 Mbps upload speeds thanks to its Cat 4 chipset. However, real-world output can vary depending on the network intensity in your region.
JioFi Performance and Battery Life
When it comes to performance, the coverage of Jio’s network in your region is crucial. Jio’s network is very poor at our office site, and I was getting abysmal download and upload speeds, with neither of them exceeding 1Mbps in our regular speed tests with Ookla. I was able to receive up to 5Mbps download speeds and 3Mbps upload speeds at home, where Jio’s network was fairly respectable. As previously stated, network speed is largely determined by Jio’s coverage in your region.
