5. Hobbs and Shaw

When a cyber-genetically enhanced villain threatens humanity’s future, lawman Luke Hobbs and outcast Deckard Shaw form an unlikely alliance, as presented by Fast & Furious. While the two’s dislike for each other is palpable, they are forced to put their differences aside when confronted with a bigger, faster, and more powerful threat.

Matrix

Never send a human to do a machine’s job.’ The Wachowskis’ cyberpunk action classic was set in a bleak future where intelligent machines had enslaved humanity and kept us enslaved by a simulated reality known as the Matrix. The Matrix was patrolled by dark-suited, sunglasses-wearing ‘Agents,’ who were actually powerful, sentient AI programmes, led by Hugo Weaving’s snarlingly villainous Agent Smith. By dodging bullets and punching through concrete, they were able to put down human rebellion.

While the premise of this film is almost identical to that of Terminator, this instalment is the endless trope of machines versus humans pitted against a group of intelligent agents.

After learning that he was living in a programme created by massive machines that make human birth artificial, a programmer is brought back to reality. He confronts his foes with technologies and self-trust in order to set humanity free.
